Release: NavBot rev. F

Here it is - NavBot revision F, fully-compatible with the 2.2 EVE patch. You can download it here!

Changes include:
  • Fixed disappearing market logs problem after the 2.2 patch
  • New "Change export directory" option in tray-icon context menu
  • No longer crashes if your current system can't be found in the map database (CCP haven't released 2.2 database dump yet)

As always, post a comment if you have any problems. I wanted to get this one out as quickly as possible, so some of the features I've been promising you all will just have to wait for a future release.

Until then - happy trading!

again, you rule. You've made trading--which I enjoyed early on--fun and profitable again, despite the "organized agrarians" hitting the market in freighters.

Orekaria: Good point about the screenshots. There's one of the original ones here: http://beautifullycraftedsoftware.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html

I'll add some more with the next new revision!

Some instructions would be of great help for many of us who are not very clever.
In the way of a small text, nothing fancy, just clear enough to make it work and make you famous.
:-)

please....

i sometimes get an error message asking me if i have another instance open. i don't, obviously, i just started the computer. but here's the info it copied for you.

System.Net.HttpListenerException: Access is denied
at System.Net.HttpListener.AddAll()
at System.Net.HttpListener.Start()
at EveMarketTool.PageServer..ctor()
at NavBot.InitialForm.TryToStartNavBot()

Hmm, sorry to hear that! Is there any pattern to when it happens - e.g. only the first time you open NavBot, or only after hibernating, or ...?

it runs fine when i first install, but then if i close it, or restart the computer, it won't open again. i have to uninstall/reinstall every time i want to run it. is there a preferred install folder? i put it in a fairly non-standard place. and i'm also running EVEMon. could there be conflicts? that'll all i could think of.

Reinstalling it makes it work again? Very strange indeed... I wouldn't expect any conflicts with EVEMon, but you could try closing EVEMon and seeing whether you can then start+restart NavBot correctly.

Which version of Windows are you using? Could you run taskmgr and check to see whether NavBot.exe is still running after you close it?

I'm in Vista, and even if I restart the computer it gives me the error. I have discovered that all I have to do is run the setup file each time I want to use it and it will do a re-install and run fine. Its a bit odd, but at least I can use your lovely bit of software.

Well, I'm glad you've found a workaround, but the problem is a really strange one!

I try opening the navbot through the web browser and all I get is Connection Refused. Any ideas how to get this up and running? It worked for a week then this message appears

OpenCloud said...

Hmm, very strange that it just started happening after a week. Can you confirm that NavBot is still running in the taskbar? Do you get the same error if you go to the URL with internet explorer? Have you installed or updated your firewall or similar system protection software this week?

Anonymous said...

Navbot is indeed absent from the taskbar. Thanks, it has been a week since I had time to log on and you reminded me that I had to reload it last time. Phew, thought I was going mad

No worries, I'm glad the problem turned out to be a straightforward one :-) Happy trading!

unfortunatly I am getting this exact same problem, the software is great tool, but having to uninstall it / reinstall it each time to use is a bit of a pain, any ideaS?

Hi Norian, that is strange. Have you tried running NavBot with administrator rights?

OpenCloud said...

Norian: could you try the workaround listed at http://code.google.com/p/navbot/issues/detail?id=15 to run NavBot as an administrator?
